Intro to Improv Piecing Part 2

Taught by Jo Thomas

Class Description

Improvisational piecing is a freeing process with no pattern and no plan. Forget about “perfect” and learn to trust your own instincts with this refreshing approach to patchwork. You will complete enough blocks for a quilt that will be a one-of-a-kind piece of art. If you are inspired by the quilts of Gee’s Bend or Denyse Schmidt, this is the class for you!

Required Materials

  • Sewing machine w/ foot pedal, power cord, bobbin case, bobbins, needles, etc.
  • Basic sewing kit (pins, seam ripper, scissors, plus your own favorite essential sewing items)
  • 1/2 yard of a fabric you love
  • Optional: portable pressing mat & iron

All other fabrics provided: $15 mandatory materials fee (paid separately to teacher).

Jo Thomas co-owns Suppose Quilt Boutique in Preston, Idaho, where she teaches, designs, and does freehand longarm quilting. She is the current president of the Cache Valley Modern Quilt Guild. A former psychotherapist, now fabric is her business.
