For Winter Quiltfest 2015 we are happy to invite Debbie Roberts of The Quilted Moose in Gretna, Nebraska!
Since a very young age, Debbie has always loved and worked with fabric. While searching for a business she could pursue at home to allow her to be with her family, she became a highly proficient, talented quilter and long-armer. In 1999 she took the next logical step and opened The Quilted Moose.
Since then, the “Moose,” as it’s known, has become a highly successful quilt shop, featured as a Top 10 Quilt Shop in Quilt Sampler magazine in the fall of 2007. Debbie designed an original quilt for the article that became that issue’s cover. The same quilt was featured in Quilt-Lovers’ Favorites, Volume 9, from American Patchwork and Quilting. In addition, Debbie’s original quilt designs have appeared in Quilter’s Newsletter, McCall’s Quilting magazines, and in books by Blackbird Designs and Jo Morton.
Debbie’s first book, titled "Four Seasons at Minglewood," showcases a stunning block of the month quilt that utilizes Debbie’s talents as a precision piecer and expert needle-turn appliquer. Seven additional projects from Debbie and her staff go on to celebrate the splendor of the seasons.
Debbie’s second book "Baskets, Birds, and Boughs," is full of quilts inspired by nature’s beauty. The book starts with a twist on the traditional block of the month. The remaining eight quilts and projects continue with soaring birds, sapling trees, and winter baskets fit to fill your home with beauty all year ‘round.
Debbie has proven that you can run a successful business or two, enjoy a family (that includes her wonderful husband Don, five children, and eight grandchildren), and still maintain your sanity.
What to expect for Winter Quiltfest 2015
Debbie has agreed to teach three brand new, unpublished quilts just for us! The first is a class on precision piecing and called Everglow. Second, is a beginning class learning applique. And finally, a quilt for all levels, including beginners, Bringing Home the Butter. View a picture of each project below. You can also find more details about her projects and her trunk show January 29th by going to the upcoming page.
We're so excited to welcome Debbie Roberts and hope you are looking forward to taking a class.... okay maybe three... from her. See you in January!
