Class description

Have you always loved the Hunter's Star quilt, but have been intimidated by templates or matching all the points? Then the QuiltSmart method is just what you've been waiting for. Perfect points in no time, every time!!  By using QuiltSmart interfacing, you can have your quilt pieced accurately and quickly.  The Hunter's Star can be done in a two tone color way, or scrappy light and dark, either way is just beautiful.  In class you'll learn tips and tricks to make QuiltSmart Hunter's Star easy and understandable.  I'll also have some other QuiltSmart Quilts and interfacing for you to see during the class. Come join me for something new!

Required Materials

  • Working Sewing Machine
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Rotary cutter, mat and favorite rulers
  • Small Ironing board
  • Small Iron
  • Applique Pressing sheet
  • Glue stick

Fabric needed:

  • Fabric 1 (Light) 2 yards
  • Fabric 2 (Dark) 2 yards
  • Fabric 3 (Optional Light Border) ½ yard
  • Fabric 4 (Optional Dark Border) 1 yard

Cutting info:

  • Cut SIX- 1 ½" inch strips (width of fabric) of each fabric (light and dark)
  • Cut SIX- 6" Squares of each fabric (light and dark)

Kit: $25.00 (Includes Pattern and Interfacing; paid separately to teacher). Kit makes lap quilt that measures 48”x60” with borders, and 36”x48” without borders.

Making it Larger? ½ yard each of Fabric 1 and Fabric 2 for each extra interfacing panel. One panel makes three 12” blocks. If you want to make a larger quilt, I will have interfacing panels for purchase at $4.25 in class. Each panel will make 3 more blocks. My sample has no borders and is 48”x60”. You would need 3 more interfacing panels to make a quilt the same size.

Bio

Jen Alexander is a professional machine quilter and teacher. She has been working in the quilting industry since 2004 and been teaching quilting and machine quilting since 2006. Jen has received numerous awards for her quilts, and her work has been published in many books and magazines.

Her love of quilting started with her Grandmother. She made countless amounts of quilts that she shared with her children and grandchildren. Jen would find herself under the quilting frame playing with wooden spools while her grandma and friends would be quilting her latest creation. The Joy of receiving a beautiful quilt on her wedding day from her Grandma was priceless.

Jen wants to share that passion with her students. Her classes are fun and have a positive atmosphere. She wants to give her students the skills and confidence they need to finish their projects.

Jen lives in Bountiful, Utah with her husband and three beautiful children. She's an A1 Quilting Machine dealer and loves what she does.
