Class Description

Another take on a traditional block, this stunning bed-size quilt is constructed using large, easy-to-make half-square triangle units, and no “Y” seams! Here’s a chance to bust your stash or use up your favorite pre-cut layer cakes or fat quarters you’ve been saving for a special quilt! Learn some of Deonn’s favorite tips for speed-piecing, using directional prints, and creating precise mitered borders.

Supply List

Basic sewing kit, including GLUE STICK. Optional: Rotary cutter and mat (at least 12”). 

Fabric: 93” x 93” Comforter 

  • 2-1/2 yards total Main prints (OR 1 layer cake or scraps); cut 32 to 36 @ 10” squares
  • 2-1/2 yards Background; cut 16 @ 10” squares and 16 @ 9-1/2” squares
  • 3/4 yard Inner Border
  • 1/2 yard Middle Border
  • 2-1/4 yard Outer Border
  • 3/4 yard Binding
  • 9 yards Backing 

Note: For a 72” x 72” Throw, eliminate all borders. Use 1/2 yard binding, 4-3/4 yards backing.
