Taught by Jolene Hill; Pattern by Gretchen Gibbons
"This quilt combines shapes from nature, reproduction fabrics, wool, cotton, flowers, birds, and beads--all some of my favorite things. I feel this quilt pattern was sent to me from heaven!"
This is an awesome wall quilt to display. Every step is enjoyable. You can carry the wool applique with you and piece the cotton blocks at home. The backgrounds are cottons, combined with applique' of beautiful wools.
We will machine piece cotton blocks, hand applique wool blocks, learn a variety of embroidery stitches, beading, and cover a few tips to help the whole process go a bit smoother.
- Book "Pennies from Heaven".
- Cotton and wool fabrics as required in book.
- A variety of colors of seed beads.
- Embroidery floss for wool applique.
- Freezer paper or heat n bond lite. (I use heat n bond lite).
- Machine and standard sewing supplies.
I am excited to teach at Winter Quiltfest once again. It is always fun to meet new "addicts" as well as meet up with a lot of familiar ones! I live in Hyde Park, UT. I have a wonderful husband, 4 children, and most exciting, 4 grandchildren. I love every aspect of quilting, from buying the fabric to binding the quilt. I really enjoy designing patterns and long-arm quilting as well. It is so fun to teach and/or take quilting classes because then I am surrounded by so many who really understand the true "purpose" of life!
